There’s something pretty special about catering a wedding at a couples home – and Viarni and Paddy’s Te Puke wedding was exactly that. Set at their own Good Place Orchard, surrounded by greenery, gardens and the beauty of the Bay of Plenty, their day was an elevated garden party that felt relaxed, personal and completely them.
For us at No Biggie Food, it was all about creating a wedding feast that suited the setting: generous, seasonal and made for sharing. Food was one of the couple’s biggest priorities, and dinner was served family-style so guests could settle in, share plates and enjoy the evening together.
We started with oysters, served with lemon and mignonette – a fresh, unfussy way to kick things off. Just before guests were seated, fresh focaccia with smoked salt butter arrived at the tables.
For the shared main, the menu brought together the kind of food we love to cook for weddings: melt in yo’ mouth lamb with pickled red onion, herbs and aioli, alongside charcoal-grilled chicken with chermoula. Alongside the mains came buttery herby new potatoes, plates of tomato, basil and Clevedon Buffalo mozzarella, plus baby cos with Caesar dressing, olives and roasted bread.
The result was a generous wedding menu designed around good produce, good company and plenty of passing plates – exactly the kind of relaxed celebration that suits a Te Puke garden wedding.
